Your Excellency Sir, Congrats on your Re-election. Entertainment which is the bedrock on which a society thrives, should be prioritized in our very own Garden city. From time past, we've seen how up and coming artistes run from Phcity and other states to Lagos which is said to be the "Centre of Entertainment"

This didn't just happen in a day...Past administrations do well to keep Entertainment going and so they keep rising. Your Excellency Sir, Phcity is a Renowned City in Nigeria and as such, we should keep up with that Honor. Your administration has killed entertainment in the state rather than rejuvenate it, hence the reason people find a way to go to Lagos at every given opportunity. 

There's more to Government other than Patching of roads and renovating dilapidated buildings. The past Governor Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi did well in the Entertainment industry in Phcity... Our Crafts flourished. Carniriv which was observed yearly attracted investors who picked interest in investing in our Dear Rivers State. Carniriv Fostered unity and togetherness amongst the people of Rivers amidst other benefits to our Society at large.
The young ones felt a sense of belonging as well as the aged. Your administration has to a large extent killed the Entertaining spirit in our people. The like of Mr 2kay, Dan D Humorous, Arinze Baba, Burna Boy, Duncan etc attained fame during Amaechi's Administration Because of his versatility and deliberate empowerment of these Artistes (Up and Coming). 

When Davido visited you, the pictures revealed how happy and excited you were hosting a Celebrity, another State Government made that possible by creating an enabling environment for him to grow his Craft and become the Super Star you were happy and quick to host. There's a million and 1 artistes better than Davido in Rivers State, but the lack of an enabling environment keeps them below the belt. The Creative Sector is dead, only criminals are empowered and so every one would want to be a criminal to get a share of the cake, "This is Repulsive!" 

Thank God you've called for peace and have decided for the inclusion of all parties for the smooth running of this administration putting Rivers State first.
And so I, Newman Chinda, a graduate of Theatre Arts, University Of Port Harcourt. I am asking you to appoint me your special Adviser on Entertainment and Creative Affairs. We know we have what it takes, both Academic and Exposure, we have capable hands in our Great Rivers to revive the creative sector of Rivers State. It is time for our youths to put their Creativity to work. 

I ask for this appointment because I am tired of watching things go wrong, I think it is time for people who actually know the Job to speak up and be given the chance. I believe we can build our creative sector so we wouldn't have to run to Lagos to make it.

The body of a young man yet to be identify was found days after unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists raged the Choba community in Obio-Akpor L.G.A of Rivers state.

#NigeriaDecides2019: Thugs Burn Votes In Okota, Lagos

We have received reports about how thugs stormed a polling unit in Okota, Lagos and burnt ballot papers/votes.

Meanwhile, Ten youths have been arrested from different locations in Bende local government area of Abia State. They were arrested over allegations of attempting to snatch ballot boxes.

According to Daily Trust, the suspects were arrested following a tip-off from youths in the area who alleged that they were unknown and armed.

They were handed over to army personnel on duty close to the local government headquarters.

The senior army officer, in charge of the team, told newsmen in the state that investigation is ongoing regarding the story.

EFCC Arrests 8 Internet Fraudsters In Ilorin

Operatives of EFCC, Ilorin Zonal Office, have arrested eight suspected internet fraudsters, following a tip-off and surveillance carried out around Irewolede, Ilorin, Kwara State.

The suspects, who were rounded up at about 9.35pm on February 11, 2019 include, Chimezie Paul, 19; Oluwakayode Adebayo, 25; Mustapha Akeem, 19; Ezedigboo Paschal, 19; Mustapha Suleiman, 21; Mohammed Umar Faruk, 25; Abolarin Samuel Sunday, 23, and Anolarin Ridwan Gbolahan, 25.

Among items recovered from them were laptops and mobile phones. They will soon be charged to court.

‘It Has Not Been Easy Since Man City Beat Chelsea 6 – 0’- Sarri

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri says it has been “not too easy” since his side were thrashed by Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Blues face Swedish club Malmo in the Europa League last 32 on Thursday in their first match since the 6-0 defeat – their heaviest in 28 years.

Sarri’s side have also lost to Bournemouth and Arsenal in recent weeks, slipping to sixth in the league.

“It’s not easy to play after losing 6-0,” said Sarri.
“But we have to play and we have to play well. We want to win. We want to react immediately.”

Sarri said the team spoke for an hour at the training ground on Monday, having conceded four goals in the first 25 minutes against City.

“It’s better to work, to react on the pitch,” he said.
“The last match wasn’t a problem of motivation. In the first four or five minutes we started well. We were not able to react.

Why we dumped Buhari for Atiku —Northern Stakeholders Forum

Kano— Northern Stakeholders Forum, NSF, has given reasons why it dumped President Muhammadu Buhari and chose Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Saturday’s presidential election.

Speaking recently at a zonal town hall meeting at Mambayya House in Kano, Aminu Adam, Director, Action and Mobilisation of the group, said they opted for Atiku Abubakar because Buhari had disappointed Nigerians.

According to him, the group supported Buhari in 2015 when there was so much yearning and agitation for credible leader who would move northern Nigeria forward.

He added that they were among the youths, who orchestrated a protest in United States of America, when they suspected rigging by PDP in 2015 elections, which apparently showed Buhari had an edge over Dr Goodluck Jonathan, calling on international communities to pay attention to the polls to ensure Buhari’s success.

He, however, said when Buhari came to power, they realised that he had failed to fulfill his campaign promises, especially in the area of fighting corruption, economy and security. He said: “In 2015, we fully supported Buhari because we believed he was the only person to move northern Nigeria forward. This is because we see that north is lagging behind in terms of development.

“Ironically, when Buhari came to power, we realised that he even prefers south to the north that gave him unprecedented votes. Buhari has failed to fulfil his campaign promises, especially in the areas of economy, corruption and security.

“Look at how killings are becoming the order of the day. People of Zamfara have turned to refugees as a result of incessant killings. Likewise Katsina, Kaduna, Taraba, Benue states and other places.
“That is why we have now decided to try Atiku Abubakar because we believe in his integrity and compassion for the masses. We also believe in his ability to perform better than Buhari.”

In his remarks, special guest at the occasion, Alhaji Nastura Nasir Sharif, said Buhari is not a man of his words. According to Sharif, Buhari claimed to have fought corruption, but it was later proved that the crusade is selective and he surrounds himself with corrupt politicians who have cases at Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

He said with the current critical situation that northern Nigeria had found itself since 1999, supporting Atiku Abubakar is the answer, as according to him, he would perform better than Buhari due to his antecedents.

INEC Says It Lost 4,695 Card Readers To Fire In Anambra

The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that 4,695 Smart Card Readers were destroyed by fire that engulfed its Anambra State headquarters office on Tuesday.
The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by Mr Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee on Tuesday in Abuja.

Okoye, however, said that election in the state would hold as scheduled as it would mop up some of the spare Card Readers from other states to Anambra.

He said that the commission regretted to inform the public that there had been another fire incident in its Anambra State office, making it the third fire incidence within the last 12 days.

“This is the third of such incidents in the last 12 days, following closely behind those of lsiala Ngwa and Qua’an Pan Local Government offices in Abia and Plateau States respectively.

“While the Commission awaits the details of the latest incident, it notes with some relief that there was no fatality or injury reported.

“Initial assessment, however, confirms that a total of 4,695 of the Smart Card Readers were destroyed in the inferno.

“While this is no doubt a setback to our preparations for the smooth conduct of the elections in Anambra State, the Commission has taken immediate measures to ameliorate the situation, by mopping up some of the spare Card Readers from other States to deploy to Anambra State.

“With the steps so far taken, the Commission remains confident that the election in the state will proceed as scheduled.’’

Okoye said that in the meantime INEC had reported the incident to the Police and the Fire Service and investigations into the cause had commenced.

He commended the Fire Service for its response, which according to the commission prevented the spread of the fire and averted more damage.

The first incident occurred in Isiala Ngwa South LGA office of the Commission in Abia State on Saturday Feb. 2, while the second occurred at the Qua’an Pan LGA office of the Commission in Plateau State on Saturday Feb. 9.

Several People Reported Dead In Rivers APC Rally Stampede.

According to a report, the spokesman of the Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Kem Daniel-Elebiga said that 14 people were killed in the stampede.

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reportedly been killed following a stampede that occurred at the Adokiye Amiesimaka stadium, venue of the presidential rally.

According to The Cable, the incident took place on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, when supporters trying to leave the venue after President Buhari left, were trampled upon.

Vanguard reports that the spokesman of the Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Kem Daniel-Elebiga said that 14 people were killed in the stampede.

Daniel-Elebiga also revealed that those wounded are being taken care of.

“I can confirm 14 persons dead as I speak. Initially, it was six, but the figures can change as they bring them and are being examined. There are others under medical attention at the Emergency Unit, so we can’t force a clear figure beyond what the situation is at the moment,” he added.


The reports also states that the spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incident.

Buhari Mourns Death Of APC Supporters In Port Harcourt

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the tragic death of some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a stampede at the presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers, on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by a presidential spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja, President Buhari extended deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

He also wished a speedy recovery to all those injured.

The President described the deaths as “needless loss of lives and an anti-climax to a highly successful outing” in the oil city that could have been averted if there was an orderly exit from the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.

“It is indeed a great tragedy that Nigerians who have important roles to play in shaping the future of the country and had come to see and hear from us how hard their government is working to build a Nigeria of their dreams, would meet their end in this unfortunate circumstance.

“I assure the people, with all sense of responsibility, that the party and the government will do everything possible to ensure the well-being and safety of our citizens as they troop out to attend rallies and all other political events,” he said.

Man Apprehended With Female Pants, Says A Prophet Sent Him To Steal Them For Money Rituals

25-year-old panel beater, Adejoh Ojonugwa, pictured above, who was recently arrested for stealing the pants of his sister and sister in-law, has said that Prophet Olajide Ogunleye also known as Kokoro-Ayo, of the Celestial Church of Christ, Ibanujemidopin Parish, Uso in Owo Council area of the state, sent him to steal the pants as part of the rituals to make him rich.

While being paraded at the Ogun state police command, Adejoh said he recently approached Ogunleye for ways to get rich fast and that the clergyman asked him to get pants and ladies underwear.

“l was given a concoction by the prophet and, from that point, l could not remember what l was doing until l was arrested by police detectives. l regained my memory after four days when l remembered visiting the prophet for assistance to get rich. I had visited the prophet to pray for me because of my work and how to get rich.

After checking my palm, he told me there were ways out but asked me to swallow some concoction and prayed for me but asked me to look for ladies pants and underwear. But when I got home I didn’t know what I was doing again and l started looking for pants and underwear. I found three of my sister’s pants and l went to my brother’s house where l took two of my sister-in-law’s pants.

Hours later, my sister-in-law raised the alarm that her underwear were missing and I was arrested and taken to the police station. Two of the pants belong to my sister-in-law and the three others belong to my younger sister. When the police arrested me, I was taken to Uso Police Station before they transferred me here (Akure)” Adejoh said

The sister-in-law of the suspect, Grace Ojonugwa, said her brother-in-law stole the underwear from where she spread it to dry in their house.

“It was my husband’s younger brother who stole the pants. He was actually trailing me to spread them. I met my brother-in-law inside our room. He had already packed two of my pants inside his travelling bag. l had spread the two pants on the line inside our room. Three other pants that did not belong to me were also seen inside the bag he was carrying” Grace said

Prophet Ogunleye denied hypnotising Adejoh nor asking him to bring ladies pants for money ritual.

“I am a true man of God and I have never seen Adejoh in my life. He is lying against me. The truth of the matter is that they came to me for a parcel of land and I refused to give them. I never asked him to bring any underwear for ritual. They feel it is an opportunity to implicate me in this crime since I had refused to give them the land to cultivate Indian hemp. I engage in spiritual cleansing for people, mostly pregnant women who have difficulties so they can give birth early and easily. I don’t engage in rituals as it is against the belief of our church. The allegation is pure lie against me. l don’t know the boy from Adams and l am surprised about the allegation against me. I am a prophet. l pray for people. l use morning dew and lime to heal diseases but l know nothing about money rituals”Ogunleye said

Commenting, the state police spokesperson, Femi Jacobs, warns parents to advise their female children about where to keep their underwear

”The main suspect claimed to have lost his senses after taking a concoction from the prophet and started looking for ladies underwear. He said he had gone to the spiritualist who is a member of the Celestial Church to pray for posterity. He now said that the man prayed for him and gave him an ointment to take and as soon as he swallowed the concoction, he lost his senses and began to pick ladies pants.

He had already picked some in Uso, their village, according to him. And he came to Akure again to pick those of his brother’s wife. We are baffled and shocked to discover that during the time he lost his senses, the next thing for him to do was to begin to pick women underwear. We think the story is too good to be true. That is why we are engaging him. We will further dig into the matter to know what he actually wanted to do with the ladies pants. Once we know what he wanted to do, he will face the consequences.

We don’t want such a thing to happen in our state. And we are using this opportunity to enjoin our ladies and our women to keep very well whatever they put on, whether underwear or dresses. We also plead with parents to ensure that their daughters keep their underwear very carefully. We are using this opportunity to enjoin our ladies and women that this is a very dangerous phenomenon. We have to keep well whatever we are putting on. I also advise parents to warn their children, particularly females, to be very careful about where they keep their underwear.” he said

Tourists Brave Glass-Bottomed Bridge In East China

Tourists who visited a glass-bottomed bridge in east China's Zhejiang Province have been given a heart-stopping day out on Saturday. Located at a scenic resort in Wuyi County, Jinhua City, the 300-meter-long bridge that connects the two mountain-cliffs dangles visitors nearly 500 meters above a valley floor.

Rivers People Endorse Atiku Abubakar For President , Vow To Vote Him En-Masse

Over Hundred Thousand Rivers people from the the 23 Local Government Areas of the state on Monday formally declared their endorsement of PDP Presidential Candidate, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to lead Nigeria out of the woods.

The Rivers People who took over the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt and its environs displayed several PDP Campaign promotional materials, sang pro-Atiku and Pro-Wike songs to emphasise their preference .

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike assured that Rivers people will vote for Atiku Abubakar. He said Rivers people believe in the capacity of Atiku Abubakar to develop the country.

Governor Wike said that PDP represents the light the country is craving for, while APC is neck deep in darkness.

"APC is darkness and PDP is light. APC is dictatorship and PDP means freedom. Rivers people have chosen to vote light and freedom, hence all our votes are for the PDP . Rivers State is Atikulated".

Former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia said the choice of Atiku Abubakar as PDP Presidential Candidate is divine. He said God has chosen Atiku Abubakar to solve the problems of Nigeria.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah said that Rivers people will vote 100 percent for Atiku Abubakar.

He said that rally is a rehearsal for the victory party after the election of Atiku Abubakar as the President of the country.

PDP Presidential Candidate and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in his address, assured that his incoming administration will address the infrastructural needs of Rivers State and the South-South.

He announced that the Ports in Rivers State will be revived for the purpose of job creation, economic growth and the massive development of the state.

The PDP Presidential Candidate noted that the incoming administration will complete the East-West Road started by the Obasanjo/Atiku administration, but abandoned by the failed APC Federal Government.

"APC has not done anything for Rivers State, South-South and the Niger Delta". Atiku Abubakar vowed to protect the constitution, saying he will uphold the rule of law, separation of powers and checks and balances.

"I will protect the constitution . I will not interfere with the National Assembly because I believe in the Separation of Powers. I will not interfere with the judiciary because I believe in checks and balances. I will uphold the rule of law ", he said.

He condemned President Muhammadu Buhari for preaching violence in Zamfara State. "We are not going to allow anyone to knock our heads and make us fight in this country. We want peace, we want development, we want jobs. We are not ready to fight ourselves again. Any leader who has come to instigate to fight, we will use our ballot papers to throw them out. Buhari must go ", he said.

Atiku Abubakar described Governor Wike as a true leader and devoted politician who has transformed Rivers State and defended the survival of the PDP.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan declared that Nigerians are working for the election of Atiku Abubakar because he has the capacity to lead the country out of its stagnation. He said: "In 2015, I mentioned that the choice before Nigerians is either to move forward or backwards. Within the past four years, all the indices of development, we have not made progress in any of them.

"I believe that you all know that as a nation, we cannot continue to stay where we are. We believe that the only person that can get us out of the woods, is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar". Jonathan said that Atiku will move Nigeria forward and will not discriminate against any section of the country. He said that Atiku will treat all geo-political zones fairly.

PDP Vice Presidential Candidate and Former Anambra State Governor , Mr Peter Obi said only Atiku Abubakar can restore the Niger Delta because he believes in restructuring. He noted that Atiku Abubakar will create jobs and make the country to start working again. Senate President Bukola Saraki declared that Atiku Abubakar will develop Nigeria and drive away poverty. He urged Nigerians to defend their votes.

PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus said despite the desperation of the APC, Buhari is heading to a woeful defeat because of his failure in governance. He, however, stated that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on the strength of his performance, will be re-elected for a second term.Wife of the Presidential Candidate, Jennifer Atiku said Rivers people are fully Atilulated and would come out to overs vote Atiku Abubakar.

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal said that the North West Zone has resolved to vote out failed President Muhammadu Buhari because he promotes prison yard democracy and retrogression. High point of the occasion was the formal withdrawal from the governorship race by 57 Governorship Candidates who endorsed the re-election of Governor Wike. Spokesman of the Governorship Candidates, Pastor Samuel Ihunwo said that their decision was premised on the outstanding performance of Governor Wike.
